Ghatasthapana is an important ritual performed at the beginning of Navratri. It symbolizes the invocation of divine energy into the home and marks the auspicious start of the nine-day festival.

- Cleanse the puja altar and set up a wooden platform covered in red cloth.
- Fill a copper Kalash with holy water, betel nut, a coin, and mango leaves, topped with a coconut wrapped in red cloth.
- Sow the barley seeds in a mud pot adjacent to the Kalash to symbolize prosperity and new growth.
- Offer pure ghee, red flowers, and sweets to Maa Shailputri while chanting her sacred mantra.
